Program Notes
A Day Away is a piece for tenor voice and piano. This piece conveys the concept of internal struggle, where the vocalist portrays one’s inner thoughts. In the beginning sections, the harmonies become progressively unstable as the vocalist sings about feeling confined and restrained. Once the peak of the piece is reached, it portrays the realization that as long as I can focus on one day at a time, tomorrow is only A Day Away.
