Program Notes

Origin is a piece that was inspired by many of my friends. I wanted to write a piece that portrayed our playability with each other and how our friendship began. I got the idea from started at one point in time and then branching off into several different paths. I portray this by started on one note and then slowly developing the piece outwards harmonically and contrapuntally. The piece finally blooms into a melody and dissonance at the climax of the piece portray a lyrical melody consisting of all the motives that have been introduced so far. The piece ends with an eerie character signifying that despite all we have been through, we do not know what the future holds for us.
